May M. Colling

May Colling, 98, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Saybrook Landing. She was born January 19, 1924 in Ashtabula, the daughter of the late Kalle and Elsa (Lindquist) Kosola. After graduating from high school, she attended Dyke Business School. In her younger years, May was very involved in her children’s school activities serving as a member of the PTA and was involved in local school politics as well as being a Cub Scout Den Mother. In her spare time, she was active in the Finnish American Heritage Society, Ashtabula County Genealogical Society, and Ashtabula Harbor Historical Society. In addition to her civic involvement, May was a very active member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Women’s Organization. May is survived by her children, Ralph Colling, Francis (Lisa) Colling, and Aaron Colling; grandchildren, Aaron Moisio, Adam Colling, Austin Colling, Nya Colling; great-grandchildren, James Mattingly, and Emily Moisio; 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Colling on March 24, 2010; parents, Kalle and Elsa (Lindquist) Kosola; brothers, Carlo and Wayne Kosola. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio where visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. In place of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Bethany Lutheran Church.
