William M. “Bill” Harper, 77, of Geneva, Ohio passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Lantern of Saybrook after a long journey with dementia. Bill was born September 14, 1944 in Weston, West Virginia the son of the late Lewis M. and Gladys (Lansberry) Harper. He was a decorated veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star Medal before being honorably discharged. After serving his country, Bill married Patsy J. Kiner on January 6, 1968 and together they shared more than 54 years of love and memories. He worked for 35 ½ years at Lubrizol in Painesville as a chemical operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, the demo derby, and liked to tinker with things and was “Mr. Fix It.” He is survived by his wife, Patsy J. Kiner; children, Lewis M (Aubrey) Harper of Madison, and Christopher L. (Erin) Harper of Geneva; grandchildren, Matthew L. Harper, Jenna M. Harper, Adeline E. Flint, Viola H. Harper, Hannah J. Harper, and Leah P. Harper; great-granddaughter, Olivia J. Van Akin; sister, Josephine Harper Brown of Roanoke, Virginia. Preceding him in death was his infant son, Jason Bradley Harper in 1972; parents, Lewis M. and Gladys (Lansberry) Harper; siblings, John, James, Joseph, Jackson, Jericho, Jennings, Dolly, George, Janet, Gerald, and Gene. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 1:00pm at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00am until the time of service. Following the service will be a Celebration of Life at the VFW Post 6846, 76 Depot Street, in Geneva. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Geneva at a later date. The family wishes to extend a sincere “Thank You” to the staff at Lantern of Saybrook, Hospice of the Western Reserve, and all friends of the Harper family.
