Amy Louise (Laughlin) Bernato, 44, of Austinburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, October 31, 2022 at her home.
She was born November 2, 1977 in Windsor, Ohio, the daughter of the late Patrick Laughlin and Patricia (Frederick) Elliott, who survives. After graduating from Jefferson High School, she received her LPN from the Knoedler School of Practical Nursing through the Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School and worked as an LPN for Ashtabula County Medical Center until 2021. In addition to ACMC, Amy worked for many years at Community Care Ambulance as a manager and paramedic and spent the last 10 years at UH as the EMS education trainer, as well as being deployed several times throughout her career for FEMA helping with natural disasters. Amy was a hardworking and dedicated medical professional, but her most important role was being the best mother to Kimberly and Emily who she loved with all of her heart and soul.
Amy is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Roxberry and Emily Bernato; mother and step-father, Patricia and John Elliott; siblings, Heather (Hall) and Alex Horwath, Morgan (Laughlin) and Jeremiah Peckol, Ana (Laughlin) and Brian Kennedy. Amy is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her father, Patrick Laughlin; grandparents, Gretna and Oliver Laughlin and Arlene and Edward Frederick.
A visitation will be held from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio. A graveside service with burial to follow, will be held at 11:30am on Friday, November 4, 2022 in the chapel of Rock Creek Union Cemetery, Route 45, in Rock Creek, Ohio. Following the graveside service, a Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Morgan Hose Volunteer Fire Department, 3033 East Water Street, Rock Creek, Ohio.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to Hospice of the Western Reserve for their love and care given to Amy for the last month. They would also like to recognize those individuals that helped organize Team Amy and the "Fight Like a Shark" event in August of 2021.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio, assisted the family with arrangements.
