Andrej "Andy" Debevc died January 24, 2025 at home with his son, Leo and friend, Luana Hale at his side. Death was natural, caused by a long and painful bout with pancreatic cancer. Of Slovenian ancestry, he born in a post World War II refugee camp in Riccione, Italy on October 9, 1946 to Darinka Debevc (nee Komel) and Leopold Debevc. He contracted Polio during his time as a refugee, which would shape the rest of his life. He was the middle of three boys and from a young age had an intense interest in music and sound. Once settled in Harpersfield, Ohio, Andrej worked the family fruit farm and attended Cork Elementary School and graduated from Geneva High School. He played music and toured the country with his brother, Peter, and their group, Ralph's Rock Band. During his time with the band he worked in various assisted living facilities, which is how he met his wife Patricia. She was selling equipment to the facility he worked at, and they hit it off well enough over the phone that they decided to finally meet in person. He and Patricia married in 1982, and their son, Leo, was born in 1988, in Houston, Texas while Andrej was attending Texas Chiropractic College. Andrej and Patricia were married for 34 years until she died in 2015. Preceded in death by his wife, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and dear friends; he is survived by his son, Leo, of Geneva, Ohio and his brothers, Peter and Mark Debevc and their respective families.
