Barry Eugene Wood (aka Woody), 78, of Ashtabula, Ohio passed away peacefully from cancer on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at UH Conneaut surrounded by all his loved ones.
He was born on December 29, 1947, in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Raymond and Shirley Wood and remained a lifelong resident.
Barry was a truck driver all his life and retired from K&H Trucking after 20+ years of service and was proud to have received the Million Mile Accident Free Award. He was a true free spirit with a love for the open road. Barry spent his life in the saddle of a Harley-Davidson from his first ride to his last. The rumble of the engine and the wind in his face is where he felt most alive.
Barry will be deeply missed by his wife, Diana Wood of Ashtabula, OH; daughter, Tina Richard (Zach Patton) of Kingsville, OH; stepson, Jason (Tiffany) Sleigh of Jefferson, OH; grandchildren, Kyle Ernst, Breonna Ernst and Desirae Zimmerman; step granddaughter, Aurora; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Caleb, Kendall and Carson Ernst and one great-granddaughter "on the way," Josette Markley; siblings, Carol McCullough, Cathy Wood and Shannon Wood. He is also survived by a lot of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and his extended Harley family. His legacy will live on every time the road calls and a Harley roars to life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Shirley Wood; maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Earl Toothman; paternal grandparents, Maude and George Wood; and his beloved cat, Church.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Ride will be held at a later date and time to be announced. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join and ride in his honor. At Barry's request, his ashes will be scattered.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
