Obituary

Born in Binghamton, New York, on May 3, 1945, Belva Lorraine Lynagh passed away in her home on May 22, 2025, at the age of 80. Born Belva Lorraine Snitchler to Lewis Clyde Snitchler II and Belva Lillie Snitchler, she lived a full and spirited life marked by resilience and a deep connection to nature.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children—Denise Lorraine Luikart, Laura Lorraine LoPresti, John Mark LoPresti, and Anna Lorraine Fisher—and their father, John Alan LoPresti. She is also survived by her three siblings: Lewis Clyde Snitchler III (Judy), Norman Charles Snitchler (Barb), and Lois Carolyn Gursslin (Lynn).

In 1984, Belva moved to Dorset, Ohio, with her second husband, Arden Lynagh, a native of the area. There, she embraced a rural life filled with laughter, hard work and friends. Belva will be remembered for her fiercely independent and free spirit, her devotion to rescuing animals, her love of gardening—always planting flowers and vegetables—and her remarkable talent in the kitchen.

Musically gifted, Belva won a scholarship to a nationally acclaimed musical summer camp playing her beloved viola when she was in high school. Strong and tenacious, she touched the lives of many with her sharp wit, sense of humor and authenticity. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
