Benjamin Ivan Porter, 65, of Ashtabula, Ohio passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Carington Park Nursing Home.
He was born November 15, 1958, in Akron, Ohio and was raised by Charles and Marie Dimple (Loftis) Porter. He served six years in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.
Benjamin worked 37 years as a truck driver and 5 years at HDT Global. In his spare time, he was a racecar driver and liked RC Racing. He also liked to fly planes, take motorcycle rides and charity rides for children.
He is survived by his longtime girlfriend of 27 years, Rosemarie Shaw; children, Branden (Erin) Porter and Crystal (Chris) Johnston; step-children, Joseph Shaw and Jacinda Nelson; grandchildren, Liz Porter, Kenzie Johnson, and Kedrick Johnson; step-grandchildren, Jaxson Johnston and Briceson Johnston; brother, Ken Porter.
Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marie Dimple (Loftis) Porter.
The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to ACMC, Carington Park Nursing Home and South Pointe Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to Benjamin and his family.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
