IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Betty Elaine

Weber

September 23, 1931 – April 29, 2026

Obituary

Betty Elaine Fouts Stahl Weber, 94, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026. She was born on September 23, 1931, to John L. and Bertha Fouts on a farm just outside of Corning, Ohio.

She was blessed in life with great parents, two brothers and six sisters who were there to love and protect her. Sundays at church were a big part of her family life. She was baptized at the Church of Christ in Hemlock, Ohio.

After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, William J. Stahl, from Glouster, OH. They spent several years in Columbus, OH, before moving to Ashtabula, OH.

She became involved in the PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Indian Guides, and being room mother in her children’s classrooms. She worked for years at the polls on election day.

She and her husband enjoyed taking ballroom dancing at the YMCA. They also belonged to a square dance group for a few years. She was an avid reader and you would often see her quietly reading one of her mystery/crime novels. She enjoyed sewing garments for herself,  herdaughter, and, of course, her granddaughters. She would often do alterations for family and friends. She sold high end fabrics for several years. At home, she was a devoted Steelers fan, attended Yanni concerts every time he came to the Cleveland area, and loved horse racing, especially the Kentucky Derby (win some, lose some).

Elaine loved traveling with family and friends on dry land (“would never do a cruise”). She enjoyed the years when she spent early fall in North Myrtle Beach in an ocean front condo, renting a cabin in Hocking Hills, OH, and spending time in South Carolina.

She was employed at Farmers National Bank, Society Bank, Ashtabula Savings and Loan, Cardinal Federal Bank, and the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office.

Elaine was a woman who carried both strength and softness in equal measure. Her ability to live independently up until her mid 90s shows the strength and drive she possessed, but beneath that was a deep, steady kindness that shaped who we are. Her home was always immaculate, a reflection of the pride and discipline she lived by, and she worked tirelessly to provide and care for her family without complaint. She adored her grandchildren, lighting up in their presence and giving them a warmth that will stay with them forever. And while she loved us all fiercely, she had a special way of spoiling her son, a quiet expression of the tenderness she didn’t always show in words. Her legacy lives on in the lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the home she built around all of us.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Judi (Tom) Hulme, Fort White, Florida and Son, Roger (Melissa) Stahl, Mantua, Ohio. Granddaughters, Kimberly (James) Knowles, Kelly (Jason) Stambaugh, Alexis Stahl, Ashleigh Stahl, Deanna Stahl, and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are stepsons, Dan (Theresa) Weber, Jeff Weber, and Skip (Valerie) Weber; as well as special friends, Mike Waters, Jefferson; Bill Plats, Florida; and Nancy Imhoff, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, oldest son John W. Stahl; William J. Stahl (father of her children), six sisters, two brothers and first born child of her parents in infancy, Beatrice Fouts.
