Carl Frederick Gunther

Carl F. Gunther, age 85, of Trumbull Township, passed away on July 22, 2026, from complications of cancer, at the Hospice Reserve Care Center in Euclid, Ohio.

He was born August 22, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, to Carl M. and Vivian (Schonberg) Gunther.

On August 12, 1993, he married Nikea Pollock.

He went to school and graduated from Wellington C. Mepham High School, in Long Island, New York.

He joined the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. He served aboard the USS Myles Fox, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He was employed by Dow Chemical Co. in California, after his naval service, doing maintenance and welding.

He eventually obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Trades Education, at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. He became a welding instructor from 1974–1988 at Auburn Career Center. He enjoyed working with the students.

Afterwards, he was employed by Hadlock Plastics, in Geneva, Ohio, as a maintenance supervisor until his retirement.

He liked training and racing Standardbred horses. Carl enjoyed riding his tractors and farm equipment, and welding.

He is survived by his wife, Nikea Pollock; his daughter, Kari (Gunther) Ryba; his sons, Carl Joseph and Christopher M. Gunther; his four grandchildren, Vanessa and Carl Jr. Gunther, Nicholas and Mason Gunther. As well as two brothers, James and Michael Gunther; and two sisters, Vivian (Gunther) Provost and Barbara (Gunther) Reuschle.

There will be no visitation or services as requested by Carl.
