Carl A. Hawes passed away peacefully March 6, 2024, under hospice care surrounded by his family. He lived in Florida with his friend Sharon Day.
Carl was born on February 16, 1940, in Jefferson, Ohio. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1958 and was an Army veteran. He worked as a conductor for Conrail Railroad for 25 years.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Vanek; children, Kim Wortman, Kelly (Mark) Solarek, Scott (Brenda) Hawes, Carl (Shannan) Hawes; grandchildren, Carl Thomas, Cierra (Tyler), Angelica (Trent), Kristi (Danny), Anthony, Miranda, Nathaniel (Kristy), Nicholas, Collin, Caden, and Samuel; great-grandchildren, Carynne, Connor, Nora, and Josie.
Carl loved to play golf. He was always willing to sit around a fire indoors or out. He loved to travel and see new things and loved spending time with his family.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers.
Visitation and services will be held at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Service on March 16, 2024, 11:00 AM-12:30 PM, with a small service held at 12:30 PM followed by a graveside service. He will be laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery, 328 N Market St, Jefferson, OH 44047.
