With a heavy heart and profound sadness, we announce Carl's passing on February 23, 2024. He passed peacefully and suddenly, at the age of 56 in his new home in Rock Creek, Ohio. Born on April 24, 1967, in Geneva, Ohio, he spent his life enjoying every possibility he could find, exploring each opportunity given to him. He was a beloved father and friend, ensuring that anyone he met always had a smile on their face when they left. He was dedicated and hard-working, working at Bertin Steel Processing for over ten years until given time to find his passion - truck driving. He then spent the rest of his life pursuing each company he could work for driving truck, seeing what new places he could explore with each.
Carl was always known for his bright personality, making everyone he knew laugh, with his jokes and funny impressions. In his early life, he enjoyed playing football and getting into friendly hijinks with his best friend Kurt Schimel Sr. As he grew on, he could often be found playing video games, golf, tinkering with his cars, or spending time with all of his family and friends. He was an active Alcoholics Anonymous member for 33 years, ensuring to make nearly every meeting he could. He was also a faithful member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Carl is survived by his family: his daughter, Tiffany Ludwigsen (Damon Cale), his mother, Theresa Ludwigsen, his sister Roberta Ludwigsen-Hill(Mark), niece Grace Cantey(Tanner), his two great-nieces, Charlotte and Eloise Cantey, and his ex-wife Shirley Schimel, with whom he shared a daughter.
