Cecil Marion Chapin

Cecil Marion Chapin, 68, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield, OH.

Born on August 2, 1957, in Ashtabula, OH, Cecil was the son of Cecil and Marjorie (Radditz) Chapin. He was a lifelong area resident who will be remembered for his generous heart, kind spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need. Those who knew Cecil knew they could always count on him to lend a helping hand, and his family and friends will miss him dearly.

Cecil worked as a mechanic at Ineos Pigments for many years before retiring at the age of 65. He took great pride in his work and was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Following retirement, Cecil enjoyed spending time camping with his family and working on his beloved 8N tractors. He found joy in simple pleasures and treasured the time he shared with those closest to him.

He is survived by his son, Cecil J. “CJ” Chapin; and his brothers, James, Joey, John (Adams), and Robert (Radwancky), all of Ashtabula, Ohio.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Marjorie Chapin; and his siblings, Laura Rose and Mark Chapin.

Private burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Hillcrest Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Cecil’s final days.
