Obituary

Charles Henry Mitchell, Jr., 74, of Saybrook, Ohio passed away October 7, 2024 amongst family after a valiant fight with cancer.
Born July 21, 1950 in Geneva, Ohio to Elizabeth "Betty" and Charles H. Mitchell, Sr., he went on to graduate from Geneva High School and later attended Lakeland Community College. On June 10, 1984 he married Judith Mitchell who preceded him in death.
Charles was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army where he received a Bronze Star and numerous marksman medals before his honorable discharge. After his military service, he worked as a steelworker, welder, and was a master maintenance mechanic. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the family cabin, fishing and hunting. He was also an active member of the Geneva VFW Post 6846, Freedom Crawlers, CVMA, CMRO, AA, and was a Boy Scout Troop Leader.
He is survived by his children, Heather (Chris) Hargrove, Jerri Mitchell, Robert (Jennifer) Karlson and Tamara (Denny) Wallace; grandchildren, Adara Tharp, Robert (Claire) Karlson, Jr., Andrew (Emmie) Karlson, Katherine (Hakkan) Gashi, Amanda (Justin) Johnson and Daniel (Hannah) Wallace; great-grandchildren, Ella Lynne, Elliott, Nadia, Addy, Madeleine, Wyatt, Ava Kate, Eliza, Robert III, Cooper, Charlotte and Connor; siblings, Mary Tackett and Fred Mitchell.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Mitchell; parents, Elizabeth "Betty" and Charles H. Mitchell, Sr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio. Inurnment will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville, Ohio.
