Charles W. "Smiley" Vliek, 83, of Madison, Ohio passed away comfortably at his home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born March 23, 1941 to Stan and Gladys Vliek. He worked in his early years at Tru-Temper and then worked a combined 35 years as a truck driver for Sidley and Jenks where he was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Local 436 and received the Four Million Mile Safe Driving Award. He was known for his willingness to always lend a hand to others and will be missed by all who knew him.
Charles is survived by his wife, Judy Vliek; children, Scott (Peggy) Vliek and Holly Eves; stepchildren, Michelle Schultz, Don (Mandy) Cope and Holly (Ronnie) Hoover; many grandchildren; siblings, John (Marilyn) Vliek, Debbie (Detmar) Moeglin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stan and Gladys Vliek; siblings, Sharon Dufopulous and Joe Vliek.
A visitation will be held at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 1:00pm until the time of service at 2:30pm.
