Clinton Jess Simmons, age 78, of Ashtabula, Ohio passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Clinton was born March 5, 1946, in Ashtabula, Ohio the son of DeVere F. Simmons, Sr. and Winifred L. Hogan.
Clinton loved music and to be outdoors. A self-proclaimed Sun Worshiper, he was often found working in the yard and tending to his flowers. He loved animals and was recently preceded in death by his beloved Siamese, Smores. He enjoyed family time and especially loved his grandchildren.
Clinton is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy (Sandfield) Simmons; sons, Chris (Stephanie) Simmons and William Simmons of Ashtabula; daughters, Carrie (Steve) Wimer of Pierpont, Holly (James) Peet of S.C., Brandi Burckhartte of Conneaut, Jackie Church of Jefferson, and Stacie (Scott Burgess) Simmons of Ashtabula; 23 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, DeVere F. Simmons, Jr. of WA; brother-in-law, Robert Leonard of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents, DeVere F. Simmons, Sr. and Winifred L. Hogan; sisters, Gloria Leonard, Lois (Richard) Hazeltine, Nancy (Ray) Kozak, Sally (Ronald) McDonough.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio. Burial services will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Ashtabula. Immediately after the burial there will be a gathering at the First United Methodist Church, 4506 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio.
