Danny Joseph Elek, born July 28, 1950, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2023, after battling many ailments for several years. Danny was a voracious reader and passed along that love to all four of his children. In the last weeks, he was adamant that his daughter Windy check out a new book he just read and was tickled to learn his grandson was reading Calvin and Hobbes. He was a diehard Browns fan until the end and this January expressed a desire to "live to see one more Superbowl." Danny loved his children very much and wanted the best for them. Though many injuries made it difficult for him to be active, he encouraged his children to play sports and be active. Most importantly, after years of battling alcohol abuse, Danny quit drinking in 2008 and began the process of repairing the relationships with his children.

He had many adventures in life, including working as a seaman on Lake Erie and driving a taxi for many years in Cleveland, but he always regretted not being able to see the Grand Canyon, New York City, and Mount Rushmore. Danny was affectionately known as "Dan the Train Man" after years of operating a children's amusement park ride at Erie View Park in Geneva-on-the-Lake, a job that drove his children crazy but that he loved.

Danny was predeceased by his parents, William and Cathrine Elek, affectionately known as Pap and Gummy, his sister Maryann (Bill) Marks, and "his little girl" Sarah Jane Elek, who he was excited to go see so they could watch their bum-Browns together again. He leaves behind his daughter Windy "Precious Princess" (Ed Cook), sons Eric "Big Boy" (Michelle Elek) and Russ "Eagle Boy" (Sarah Heiss), and eight grandchildren.
