David Alan Arendas, age 75, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with dementia. Born on September 7, 1951, Dave was known for his outgoing and unforgettable personality.
David grew up in Twinsburg, graduating from R. B. Chamberlin High School in 1969. After his high school graduation, he began his professional journey working as a draftsman for Loopco. Following that, his natural knack for fixing things led him to work as a mechanic at several gas stations, even co-owning one of them alongside his dad. He eventually found a long-term career at Lubrizol’s testing facility in Wickliffe. After relocating, he ended his career path at Ranpak.
David later moved to Madison, Ohio, where he helped raise his family. Even as his health declined, those who knew Dave remembered him as a man who loved to have fun. He possessed a great laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. When he wasn’t entertaining those around him, he was passionately rooting for his hometown. He was a die-hard fan of all Cleveland’s sports teams.
He had a deep appreciation for the simpler pleasures in life. He loved trains, cars, and took great pride in riding his Harley Davidson trike. He also proudly instilled a deep love of music in each of his children, a lasting gift they will carry with them forever.
David is survived by his three children, whom he lovingly raised during his 25-year marriage to Patty Gordos (Andrews): Tony Arendas and his wife Abbey, Tracy Brown and her husband Brian, and Tiffany Russ and her husband Brent. He was the grandfather of seven grandchildren and one step-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Sidoti and Denise Scotch and her husband Brian; and several nieces and nephews. His family will deeply miss his jokes, his laughter, and his larger-than-life presence.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Arendas; his parents, John and Geraldine Arendas; his brother, Donald Arendas; and his brother-in-law, Eugene Sidoti, with whom he is now reunited, likely playing cards once again.
To honor David’s life, his family will gather for a private service later this month to share memories and honor his legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Immaculate Conception Church in Madison, Ohio to have a Memorial Mass offered in David’s honor.
Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements. www.LakeErieCrematory.com
