David Edward "Butch" La Munyan

David Edward “Butch” La Munyan, 83, of Madison, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Born March 12, 1943, at Geneva Hospital, Butch was the son of Harmon and Margaret La Munyan. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family.

Butch was married to his beloved wife, Stephanie La Munyan. He is survived by his children, Megan Nejbauer and her husband Ronald, Mandi Leben, and Nina Arnold and her husband Philip. He was a proud grandfather and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, including Corianna, Tatum, and Cheyenne Queen, Nolan and Nevan Leben, Liliana and Memo Padilla, Philip Jr. and Ares Arnold, and Selena Rivera. Also surviving are his niece, Cindy (Rich) Rumsey and their children, Jacob, Lauren and Luke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Margaret La Munyan, and his sister, Diane Labbe.

Butch was retired and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He rarely missed their events, particularly their sporting events, and was always there to cheer them on. He also proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Butch served for two and a half years and earned recognition including the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was also an accomplished marksman, earning an Expert Rifle designation.

Butch was a faithful Catholic and a lifelong member of ICC. His family and friends will forever remember the love he gave so freely and the many memories he created with those closest to him.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, August 30, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Rd, Geneva, OH 44041. A viewing will be held on Monday, August 31, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Rd, Madison, OH 44057, with Mass immediately following the viewing. Burial will take place thereafter at North Madison Cemetery in Madison, OH.
