David W. Toppings, 60, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, February 13, 2023, at his home following a short illness.
David was born in Logan, West Virginia, on February 23, 1962. At the age of 19 years old he joined the United States Army as a bridge specialist in the combat engineer unit as a Sargent. He served from 1981-1984 in the 7th engineer battalion and 5th infantry division. He received a bridge specialist ribbon, was a rifle M-16 expert as well as a hand grenade marksman.
He loved fishing, being out on his boat, spending time with family, enjoying life and especially spoiling his two granddaughters.
Survivors include 3 sons, Ryan (Cindy) Toppings of Parma, Ohio, Michael (Allison) Toppings of Willoughby Hills, Ohio, and Donnell (Veronica) White of Brunswick, Ohio. David also leaves behind 2 beautiful granddaughters, Jaycee Toppings and Breannah White.
He will be loved and missed dearly.
David was laid to rest with full military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio, assisted the family with arrangements.
