Obituary

David W. Tyler, 78, of Austinburg Township, died at home on August 26th, from cancer
caused by exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June of 1964
and served in the 82nd and 173rd Airborne Divisions and was honorably discharged in June of
1967. He served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967.
David retired from the Mentor Fire Department in 1995 after 22 years of service. He
enjoyed woodworking and built two of his homes. He did home remodeling as a side job, owned
several sailboats over the years and loved sailing on Lake Erie. He also enjoyed winemaking at
home for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol A. (Robinson) Tyler, daughter Jacqueline
(Jake) Reihner, son David J. (Kristin) Tyler, and grandchildren Alec and Katie Reihner. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Lake Erie
Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio.
