Obituary

Demetrius L. Morton, 55, of South Euclid, Ohio passed away in Cleveland on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from a heart attack.
He was born on June 5, 1970, in Cleveland, Ohio to his mother, Sharon Upchurch, and remained a lifelong area resident. Demetrius was baptized in 1980 and was a faithful Christian. On June 28, 2008, Demetrius and Shirley were united in marriage in Cleveland, Ohio at Windows on the River and together they shared more than 27 years together.
When Demetrius was a small boy, he took apart a radio and put it back together perfectly. This curiosity and love of fixing things led to him obtaining several electronic and computer science degrees, including an associate and a bachelor's degree in computer science from ITT Institute and the University of Phoenix. He used his technical skills and knowledge working for General Electric where he enjoyed several years of employment. When he wasn't working, his favorite thing to do was to work on his own cars which he would take apart with ease. He would do his own repairs, not only to save money but for the enjoyment and as a past-time. Demetrius was also a comedian often making small comments to reactions. He was loved by all he came in contact with and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Morton; mother, Sharon Upchurch; stepdaughters: Sierra Nzononye & spouse Kelvin Nzononye, Jasmine Williams and Shayla Williams. He also shared a special bond with a daughter from his early years, Danielle, whom he always kept in his heart. Demetrius was also the proud grandfather of three wonderful grandsons: Terrence Dixon, Tyler Dixon and Terrence (Juice) Cole.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Velma Morton & June Morton; great-aunt, Estella Kinder and great-uncle, Dozier Kinder.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2025, at Riverside Cemetery, 3607 Pearl Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44109.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 29801 Lakeland Blvd., Wickliffe, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.

Poem from wife, Shirley Morton
Forever in Our Hearts

You're resting now in Heaven's peace,
Surrounded by God's care.
But the love you gave still fills our hearts.
And memories keep you near.
You laughed and spent time with the boys that they will never forget.
Their joy was yours to share…
And every smile upon their faces reminds us you were there.
A husband, father and granddad too,
so gentle, strong, and eager to spend time because that was you.
We thank the Lord for every day you blessed our lives and minds.
Until we meet in Heaven's light where pain and tears depart.
You'll live forever in our love and forever in our hearts.

Love You!
Your Family!

Mother and Son

Praise the Lord
Meechie, Meechie, Meechie
My number one son.
Yes many years we were together and it was best
You stand out in my heart and I can't
hardly believe we would part.
Side by side we have been
and someday it will happen again.
I smile now and AMEN, AMEN
Mother and Son 100 percent.
Love You!
