Donald R. Adkins

On August 1, 2026, we said goodbye to Donald R. Adkins, a beloved father, grandfather, companion, and friend.

Born on March 25, 1946, in Warren, Ohio, Donald is survived by his son, Douglas Adkins; his beloved grandchildren, Dustin Adkins and Hailey Adkins; and his longtime companion, Cheryle Adkins, with whom he shared more than 30 years of love, friendship, and companionship.

Donald was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, but we loved him anyway. He was also a devoted World War II buff who enjoyed History Channel programs and movies about the war. It was a subject that interested him throughout his life.

For years, Donald enjoyed photography, capturing moments, memories, and the world around him through the lens of his camera.

One of Donald's proudest accomplishments was achieving 16 years of sobriety through Alcoholics Anonymous. AA became a cornerstone of his life, providing friendship, support, and purpose. He often credited the program and the people he met there with helping him live a longer and fuller life. The friendships he made and the lessons he learned through recovery remained deeply important to him.

Donald took great pride in his family and cherished the time he spent with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fellow members of the recovery community.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio 44041. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association in Donald's memory.

Though he is no longer with us, the memories he gave us will remain in our hearts forever.
