Donald R. Garl, 84, of Newton Falls, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 10th, 2023, peacefully surrounded by his family at the Country Club Rehabilitation campus.
A celebration of life ceremony is planned for Friday, April 21, 2023, at 1pm at First Baptist Church, 2640 S Canal St., Newton Falls, OH 44444.
Donald was born November 16, 1938, in his family home in Brimfield, Ohio, to his late parents, Harry E & Edna (Glass) Garl.
He had three brothers: Marvin, Eddy & Joe and four sisters: Thelma, Nellie, Helen & Betty - he was the youngest of the group.
As a child, he worked the family farm with his parents and his seven siblings. He attended and graduated from Kent High School in 1958. He then started working for his father as a carpenter for 10 years building houses. Donald then started his own construction company business called Garl Home Improvement in 1977. Donald enjoyed swimming, fishing, bingo, cards, hunting for bottles, bowling, walking, golfing, and gambling.
Donald married his first wife, Esther (Meredith) and had four children, Susie (Gary) Robertson, Dawn (Nathan) Jones, David (deceased) and Denise (Brian) Kelley.
Donald married his second wife Mary (Kinkis) on September 2, 1969, and they went on to have four more children Harry, Irene (Ed) Prasky, Felicia and Mary Ellen (Joe) Davenport.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harry & Edna Garl, Brothers Marvin, Eddy and Joe, sisters Thelma, Nellie and Betty, and his son David.
Donald also has 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many other family members who loved him.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio, assisted the family with arrangements.
