Donald Edward Herman, 83, of Geneva, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on
March 5, 2026.
He was born on January 20, 1943, in Rock Creek, Ohio the son of the late Emmett and
Bessie Herman.
Don worked for many years at Rockwell International Brake Division of Ashtabula and
retired from Avery Dennison of Painesville in 2009. To those that knew him, he was
known as one of the hardest working people they had ever met. He took great pride in
providing for his family and leading by example through his dedication and strong work
ethic. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose life
was centered around his family. He loved watching his children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren participate in sports and other activities and was always willing to
support them.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce E. (Winters) Herman whom he married on April 25,
1964, and together they shared 63 years of love and memories. He is also survived by
his children, Jon (Cheryl) Herman, Mark (Audrey) Herman and Michele (Kevin) Ruscitti;
proud grandfather of 14 and great-grandfather of 12; sister, Marjorie Carraher of Myrtle
Beach, SC.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Bessie Herman; son, Daniel
Herman on March 12, 2023; siblings, Elmer, Norman and Alice Carraher.
At Donald's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to Brittany Larko and the
compassionate caregivers of Bristol Hospice and to his nurse Chris for the kindness,
comfort, care and dignity they gave to Don during this difficult time. They would also
like to thank the neighbors, friends and loved ones who helped the family in so many
ways and the family is also grateful to the staff at Lake Erie Cremation for the
respectful and professional care shown to Donald and his family.
