Dorothy M. Hanifon's Obituary
Dorothy May Hanifon, 85, of Thompson, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland from congestive heart failure.
She was born May 3, 1938, in Thompson, Ohio to Ella Ely and Oscar Loomis and graduated from Grand Valley High School.
Dorothy worked for the Mayfield Schools for 20 years and in her spare time was a member of the Western Reserve Car Club and enjoyed going to car shows, playing Bingo, going to casinos, and spending time with her cat "Pretty Boy."
She is survived by her companion of over 38 years, Dwain A. Raikes, Sr; children, David Jones, Kenneth (Gina) Jones, Brian (Michelle) Hanifon, and Denise (Robert) Richards; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Throop.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Jones; parents, Ella Ely and Oscar Loomis, and siblings, Evelyn, Arthur, and Richard.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at her daughter's home on July 1, 2023 and burial will be in Rome Cemetery next to her parents and brother.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
