Douglas L. Morehead ("Doug"), age 59, of Aurora, Colorado, formerly of Willoughby and Eastlake, Ohio, passed away on January 9, 2026, at Hospice House in Cleveland with his sister by his side after a brief battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma.
He was born on June 1, 1966, in Cleveland, OH, was raised in Eastlake and was the beloved son of Douglas and Joyce Morehead. He was a 1984 graduate of Willoughby South High School.
Doug was the proud owner of Grace Flooring, where he dedicated many years of hard work and craftsmanship. He took great pride in his work and in serving his community.
Doug had a deep love for riding his Harley and was passionate about helping others, especially those experiencing homelessness. During his time in the Denver area, he made sure that people — and even their pets — were cared for. He would often give whatever he could, even the shoes off his own feet, to someone in need. His generosity and compassion were simply part of who he was.
He loved music, art, and animals, especially his cats, Faith and Willy. Doug's relationship with God was very important to him and guided the way he lived his life.
He is survived by his sister, Colleen (Tom) Brass (Morehead); niece, Rebecca (Drew) Puckrin; many loving cousins, and dear friends, including Rob and Cathy. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Hospice House who helped Doug pass with the dignity he deserved. A special thank you to Bob who understood Colleen when no one else did, and to the staff that made the family feel welcome.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 26 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Rd, Geneva, OH 44041. Burial will take place at Willoughby Memorial Gardens Cemetery in late spring (Section 164-B).
In honor of Doug's generous spirit, the family asks that you help someone in need — perhaps by providing a meal, warm socks, or a blanket to a person experiencing homelessness.
Doug will be remembered for his big heart, his love of freedom, and the kindness he showed to others.
