Drema L McGee (nee Kirby) of Geneva, Ohio, formerly Montville, Ohio, born 78yrs ago on January 21, 1947, in Oak Hill, West Virginia, to the late Whitten & Edith Kirby, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, after putting up a hard fight to stay with us, but departing on her own. She "had a plan".
Drema married the late Samuel C. McGee on March 15, 1969, and moved to Montville, Ohio, where they started and raised their family. Drema worked as a bus driver, retiring from Metzenbaum after 21yrs of service. After retirement, she spent her time with family, as well as working at the Geneva Senior Center, helping with programs and enjoying time with friends playing card and board games and shooting pool.
Drema (aka Mom, Grandma, GiGi) loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved having the house full! She was loving and caring and was a hard worker, never sitting down, running circles around all of us. She was also feisty and ornery and said it like it was, but if she knew you, she loved you with all her heart and would do and give everything she had if you asked or needed something. She truly was one of a kind and will be missed terribly.
Drema was the loving wife and beloved mother to the late Samuel C McGee and leaves behind, children, Tammy Gibson of Painesville, Ohio, Jerry McGee of Geneva, Ohio and Margaret (Wayne) Trussell of Madison, Ohio; grandmother of Lydia Killian, Corey Gibson, Kraig (Kayla Nicholson) Gibson, Steven (Amanda) McGee, Jordan (Daniel Fleming) McGee, Alysha Gibson, Samantha (Eric) Gross, Brian (Janine) Trussell, and Hailey McGee; great-grandmother to Brantley Gibson, Brooklynn Trussell, Bentley Gross, Gracie Fleming, Charles Trussell, and Raelynn Gross; sister to Loretta Kirby and Brenda Call; and best friend, Cindy Struna. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, George, Steve, Ronnie, Lonnie and Larry and sisters, Delores, Betty, Catherine and Violet.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 2pm to 5pm at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Rd, Geneva, Ohio 44041. Service will follow calling hours. Burial will be held at a later date.
The family would like to send special thanks to Dr. Alex Todorinov and Dr. Russ Blair, as well as the multiple other physicians and nurses who went above and beyond, both during and after our mother's care. We are grateful. Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services assisted the family with arrangements. 440-361-2273.
