Emma "Ruth" (Sutherland) Thomas, age 86, of Madison, passed away on September 17th, 2022, at her daughters home surrounded by her family. Ruth was born on June 22nd, 1936, to parents Ocie (Grizzell) Sutherland and Alden Sutherland in Rupert, WV. Ruth married her love (the late) Reuben Notley Thomas on October 6th, 1956, in Lewisburg, WV. She attended Rupert High School in WV., where she graduated. Ruth was a long-time board member for the Geneva Assembly of God, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother "Nanny", and great-grandmother. She was the most beautiful caregiver to her family with her favorite songs of "You are my sunshine" and "I love you more". Ruth worked for several years at Aruta's Drugstore in the craft department, in her free time she really enjoyed doing any kind of craft, walking, spending time in WV and Hilton Head, reading, participating with the church, and giving her time to help others. Ruth was a devout Christian in faith and attended New Life Assembly of God in Geneva. Ruth is survived by her loving children; Teresa (Robert) Wilson of Austinburg, Keven (Kay) Thomas of Painesville, Shane Thomas of Painesville, and her beloved grandchildren; Cherise Thomas, Janel (Jared) Sack, Abbey (Tony) Arendas, Ryan Thomas, Curnes Thomas, and her great-grandchildren; Kaleb Ensminger, Cole Spellacy, Kai Spellacy, Brooklyn Wilson, Landen Sack and Grady Sack. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Reuben (July 29th, 2022) and her beloved son Dwayne Allan Thomas and her loving grandchildren, Elissa Marie Thomas, and Jacob Dwayne Thomas. Ruth is also preceded in death by her siblings; Joseph Sutherland, Curnes Sutherland, Sona Legg, and Shelby Bragg. Memorial donations may be made in Ruth Thomas's name to the Geneva New Life Assembly of God, 1961 LaFevre Rd., Geneva, OH., 44041. The family would like to make a special thank you to Teresa Wilson, Kay Thomas, and Jennifer Thomas for all the care they provided for Nanny and would like to thank the church family of New Life Assembly of God, especially Pastors Harry and Dawn Pischera, and Pastors Mulchen and Cynthia Seenarine. A private Celebration of Life will take place in the future with Ruth's family.
