Enrique Leonard, 67, of Perry, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his home in Perry following a courageous battle with stage 4 liver cancer.
Enrique was born on December 15, 1958, in Havana, Cuba. He later made his home in Perry, Ohio, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, and the simple things he loved.
He was known as an amazing and hardworking nursery worker who took pride in his work and the care he put into everything he did. Enrique enjoyed spending time in his garden and had a passion for watching ghost hunting videos, which always sparked his curiosity and sense of adventure.
Enrique is survived by his son, Justin Johnston, and daughter-in-law, Michela Decapua; his stepdaughters, Amanda Drake (Gene) and Brittany Johnston (Jake); and his grandchild, Justin Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Isabel, along with extended family and loved ones who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Melinda Johnston.
Enrique will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, and the quiet joy he found in his garden and favorite pastimes.
A memorial celebration of life will be determined at a later date and time.
