Estella “Stella” Ellison, 67, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, after a long battle with lung, brain, and bone cancers. She beat breast cancer once, fought and overcame lung cancer numerous times, and remained strong, selfless, and loving until the very end.
The Celebration of Life service will be held on October 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 29801 Lakeland Blvd., Wickliffe, Ohio 44094.
Estella Ellison was born on June 29, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the youngest of six siblings, whom she lovingly referred to as “The Brady Bunch.” Her siblings were Eddie (deceased), Carmella (deceased), Ella, Reggie, and John.
Stella was raised in a very close family and neighborhood community in Cleveland, Ohio. She often talked about how close she and her whole family were while growing up. Those memories and the love they shared remained very special to her throughout her life.
She attended Cleveland Public Schools, Jane Adams.
Stella was married to Regis Billups and was blessed in this lifetime with two beautiful children, Maurice “Morris” Ellison and Shaquita “Quita” Ellison.
Stella primarily worked in childcare, including owning and operating a daycare business. She was known for her love of caring for and raising children and for the genuine love she showed to everyone around her. She was also known for
her love of braiding hair and was always willing to welcome and help whoever needed her, with open and loving arms.
Stella was a devoted Christian who trusted God’s word above all. Her faith was an important part of who she was and how she lived her life.
She loved music, dancing, singing, laughing, doing puzzles, caring for her plants, watching sports games, and reminiscing with family and friends. She
enjoyed the simple moments that brought people together and created memories that will be cherished forever.
Most of all, Stella was proud of and deeply loved her whole family. Her family meant everything to her, and she made sure the people she loved knew it.
On September 28, 2026, her time with us here on Earth came to an end. Although her physical presence is no longer with us, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the impact she had on the lives of so many will remain forever.
Stella is preceded in death by grandparents, Hazel (Mamie) Hughley; siblings Eddie and Carmella; niece Sharmaine; puppy companion Riley; and many other loving family members .
She leaves behind to mourn her mother, Dorothy; son, Maurice (Amanda and children); daughter, Shaquita; sister, Ella; brothers, Reggie and John; granddaughters, Shai’la, Morgan, Myana, and Shawntasia; grandson, Marquise; partner, Arkeith Stubbs (puppy companion Chanel); and an abundance of loving family members and treasured friends.
Stella will forever be remembered for her strength, her loving heart, her selflessness, her faith, her laughter, and the way she welcomed and cared for the people around her. She fought many battles throughout her life, but she never allowed them to take away the love she had for her family or the joy she found in the people and things she loved.
Her love will live on through every person she touched, every memory she created, and every life she helped shape.
