Franklin Paul “Frank” Skoch, 83, of Perry, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Chardon, OH, on Friday, June 19, 2026.
Born on March 27, 1943, in Cleveland, OH, Frank was the son of Edward and Elizabeth Skoch. He graduated from John Adams High School and went on to attend Ohio State University. On June 11, 1966, he married the love of his life, Vivian C. Cipullo, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned six decades.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant from 1966 to 1968, including service in Vietnam from 1967-1968. Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to education. He began teaching at Whitney Young in Cleveland and later spent most of his career at Chardon High School, where he taught woodshop and biology from 1973 until his retirement in 1996. In addition to teaching, Frank coached track and football, positively influencing generations of students through his guidance, patience, and encouragement.
Family was at the center of Frank’s life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vivian C. Skoch (Cipullo); his children, Danette Skoch, Gretchen Malovic, Beth Petsche (Joe), and Katie Smith (Chris); his grandchildren, Brian Holt (Ashley Wymer), Jessica Holt (Nicole), Michelle Burkett (Kyle), Emily Petsche, Kylie Johnston (Cameron), Hannah Brown (Terrance), Olivia Mack (Tyler), Kylie Smith, and Aiden Smith; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Liam, Finn, Jaxxon, Kinsley and Greyson. He also leaves behind his sisters, Dorothy Burafaldi (Jim) and Betty Giammar.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elizabeth Skoch.
An avid outdoorsman, Frank found joy in spending time with family, exploring the outdoors, riding four-wheelers, and target shooting. He had a deep passion for teaching and mentoring others, and he never met a stranger. His warm personality, genuine interest in people, and lifelong love of learning made him a friend to many. Strong, resilient, and deeply caring, Frank taught those around him the importance of hard work, kindness, and loving deeply.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
Frank’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched as a teacher, coach, veteran, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
