Gary F. Karlson, Age 80, of Painesville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022, at TriPoint Medical Center. Gary was born on Oct. 11th, 1942, in Cortland, N.Y., to parents, Philip Karlson and Irma Dorr Karlson. Gary began his career with Smith Corona in Groton, NY. He then joined Parker Hannafin, where he enjoyed his career in N.Y., Mississippi, eventually landing in Ohio. His favorite memory was when he traveled to Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall to open a new plant. In 1995 he pursued his dream of owning his own plant and he purchased Fluid Tite Castings, he finally retired in 2005. Since then, he has enjoyed his time spent with friends at Hellriegel's Inn, but most of all his time with his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gary is survived by his children, Tammy (Denny) Wallace, and Robert (Jennifer) Karlson; his grandchildren, Amanda (Justin) Johnson, Daniel (Hannah) Wallace, Robert (Claire) Karlson Jr., Andrew (Emmie) Karlson, Katherine (Hakkan) Gashi, and his loving great grandchildren; Ella Lynne, Elliot, Nadia, Addy, Madeleine, Wyatt, Ava Kate, and Eliza. He is also survived by his siblings, Marie (John) Dentes, and Dan (Mary) Benedict. Gary is preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Karlson and Tom Benedict. The family will honor Gary's life with a private service that will be held in the Spring of 2023 in New York State.
