George “Dean” Hommes

George “Dean” Hommes, 90, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away peacefully of natural causes onWednesday, July 22, 2026, at Jefferson Healthcare Center.

Dean was born on October 4, 1935, in Jackson, Ohio, to Lewis and Elizabeth Hommes. Hemarried the love of his life, Mary, on June 9, 1956, at St. Joseph Church in Ashtabula, beginning a marriage built on faith, devotion, and family.

Dean dedicated his career to the Ashtabula Area City Schools, where he faithfully served until his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet kindness, and commitment to his community.

A man of deep Christian faith, Dean was adevoted Pentecostal whose beliefs guided theway he lived his life. He found great joy in oil painting, woodworking, gardening, and, above all, spending time with his family. Whether creating something with his hands or enjoying the company of those he loved, Dean appreciated life's simple blessings.

Dean was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Hommes.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary; children, Pamela McNutt, Jim Hommes (Cheryl), Brenda Michalke (Jeff), and Brian Hommes (Sherri); 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 great great-grandchildren; as well as his sister, Frieda Helberg Adkins from Jackson, Ohio.

In keeping with Dean's wishes, a small, intimate ceremony was held with his immediate family atthe time of his passing.
