George Amos Onion Jr.

George "Buzz" Amos Onion, Jr., of Austinburg, OH (formerly of Conneaut, OH.)., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026. He was born on May 25th, 1953, in Painesville, OH., to George and Anna Onion, and graduated from Thomas W. Harvey High School in 1972. George was a hard-working man and had various jobs throughout the years, but working for Markko Vineyards was his favorite by far. He loved to share bottles of wine with his friends in Conneaut. George was extremely proud that through all his hard work in life, he was able to purchase a house for his mother Anna. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing, he would often take his nieces and nephews to the creek for the day to fish. George was very involved with his family, this was so important to him to spend quality time with them. George made many friends throughout his life, especially at the senior center and within his community by participating in events. He was known for his kind and generous nature. George was a Lutheran in his faith and loved the Lord. He is survived by his cherished nieces and nephews, Rochelle Biemesderfer, Sarah McKiethan, Star Kirby, Charles Grimes, Jeremy Grimes, Joshua Powell, and Nathan Powell. George is also survived by many beloved great nieces and nephews and even several great-greats. George also leaves behind his siblings, Rose (James) McKiethan, Ruth (Kenneth) Powell, and Dinah Grimes. He is preceded in death by his parents, George A. Onion, Sr., and Anna Elizabeth Onion (Brown), and by his sister, Dixie Lee Onion. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, from 3-6pm, at the Lenox Community Recreation Center, 2509 Lenox-New Lyme Rd., Jefferson, OH., 44047. The Onion family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Austinburg Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion to "Uncle Buzz". George's urn will be buried in Concord Township Cemetery beside his mother and his sister.
