Herbert Eugene "Gene" Legg, 85, of Geneva passed away Monday, November 8, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 3, 1936 in Summersville, West Virginia, the son of the late Cecil H. and Bessie E. (Butler) Legg.

Gene retired from Reliance Electric in Ashtabula and in his spare time, "Poppa" Gene enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren camping, fishing, and traveling.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Marilyn Garner and his cat "Boots" of Geneva; children: Debbie (Joe) Beres of Madison, and Mark (Sue) Legg of Geneva; bonus family: Shelley (Beth) Garner of Geneva, Rodney (Janet Cutler) Garner of Geneva, and Rian (Malinda) Garner, of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren: Sara (Zach) Ward of Austinburg, Steve (Meghan) Legg of Roaming Shores, and Tim (Heidi) Legg of Jefferson; great-grandchildren Hunter, Jaydon, Shellby, Mason, Jase and Aubree. Bonus grandchildren: Megan (John) Morrison, Emily (Ben) Nicholson, Bryan (Carrie Myers) Connor, Jeff (Allysa) Garner, Evan Cutler, Grayson, Kellon, Dax and Pyper Garner; and 6 bonus great-grandchildren; siblings: Ann (Tim) Miller of Muncie, IN and Bob Legg of Conneaut. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Coy) Legg in February of 2001 and his brother, Shirley Ray Legg.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio where the family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of service. Reverend Shirley Stoops-Frantz will officiate.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to Hospice of the Western Reserve, especially to Jennifer and Julie.
