Howard N. Stich, 80, of Painesville, OH passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at UH Cleveland Seidman Cancer Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 20, 1944, in Carthage, MO to the late Howard J. and Ruth (Springborn) Stich.
On December 29, 1962, Howard married Sally Settlemyer in Cleveland, Heights, OH and together they shared over 61 years of love and memories. Howard worked as a firefighter for 7 years in Willoughby before transferring to Mentor where he retired after many years of service. In his spare time, he was an avid metal detectorist for over 50 years, enjoyed hockey, loved fishing, was a rock and gem enthusiast, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially the grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Sally Stich; children, Laura (Robert) Sayer, Valery (Joseph) Grace and Kevin (Krissie) Stich; grandchildren, Matthew Formick, Christopher Formick, David (Gabi) Grace, Ryan Grace, Jessica (Ryan) Parente, Danielle (Nevada) Stich and Kyle Stich; great-grandchildren, Dawson Grace, Ryan Parente Jr., Mila Choate and Charlotte Choate; sisters, Ellen (William) Pack and Carla (Dennis) Svoboda; nieces and nephews, Kim, Bryan, Mark and Sara. He is also survived by many cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard J. and Ruth (Springborn) Stich; mother and father-in-law, George and Betsy Settlemyer; step-grandson, Brandon Sayer.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio from 3pm until the time of service at 4:30pm.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to the doctors and staff at UH Cleveland Seidman Cancer Center for the wonderful care given to Howard and his family.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services of Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
