Obituary

Ivan David Cortright, 87, of Rome, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Veteran's Wing of Carington Park Nursing Home in Ashtabula, Ohio after a long life.

He was born January 9, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to Manson and Grace Cortright and graduated from the School of Hard Knocks. Before beginning a long work history, Ivan honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1957.

Ivan was a longtime employee of Quick Plastics, Rockwell, and Molded Fiberglass Ashtabula locations as a maintenance worker, retiring from MFG in 1999. Ivan was a Jack-of-all-Trades and there wasn't anything he couldn't do. He loved spending time outdoors, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and new great-grandson. He also enjoyed sending things to the "stump."

He is survived by his sons, Rick (Helen) Cortright and Jack (Angie) Cortright; grandchildren, Rebecca (Jordan) and Melanie; great-grandchildren, Monique, Devin, Aliah, Victoria, and Arlo; brother, Ray Cortright.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, Manson and Grace Cortright; brothers, Manson Cortright Jr., and Norman Cortright.

At his request, there will be no services. A burial will take place at Rome Cemetery at a later date.
In place of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Ivan's memory to any Veteran Association.
The family would like to send a special "Thank You" to the VA, ACMC, St. Vincent's in Erie, Carington Park, and Bella Care Hospice.
