James "Tip" Hayes, 82, of Ashtabula, passed away December 22, 2020 at Carington Park Nursing Home.
He was born January 28, 1938 in Toronto, Ohio, the son of the late Ruby and Grace Hayes. After attending Rock Creek High School, Jim worked for Kent State University in Ashtabula and Grand River Academy in Austinburg before retiring from Wal-Mart. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Jim is survived by his wife, Liz Hayes; children, Terry (Jim) Wyman, Jim (Norma) Hayes, Tom (Amy) Hayes, Stephen Hayes, and Robert (Jackie) Hayes; step-son, Ken Rounds; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanne, Elsie, and Linda; brothers, Larry, and Duane.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Hayes; parents, Ruby and Grace Hayes, sisters, Betty, Anita, Phyllis, and Nancy; brother, John.
A private graveside service will be held in Rock Creek Union Cemetery.
