James K. Hornbeck, 70, of Ashtabula passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born November 30, 1950 in Buckannon, West Virginia the son of the late Harold G. and Garnet Jean (Osburn) Hornbeck. Jim graduated from Harbor High School in 1969 and then served in the Ohio National Guard from 1970-1976. On July 13, 1985 he married Marianne Massi at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church and together they shared 36 years of love and memories.
Jim was a hardworking person and over the years worked for Rockwell International, Reliance Electric, International Paper, Cicogna Sign Company, and his most recent and rewarding career was with the Ashtabula County Board of Developmental Disabilities at AshCraft Industries. In his spare time, he had many hobbies including co-owning and teaching Martial Arts at the Ashtabula Shotokan Dojo, gardening, gambling at the casino, cheering on the Indians, Browns, and Buckeyes, and his favorite hobby of taking special family vacations to Topsail Island and Niagara Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Marianne (Massi) Hornbeck; sons, Ryan (Ashley) Hornbeck of Columbus, OH, Joshua Hornbeck of New York City, NY, and Tyler Hornbeck of Ashtabula; 1 grandchild "on the way;" siblings, Judy (William) White, Ronald (Catherine) Hornbeck, and Douglas Hornbeck. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harold G. and Garnet Jean (Osburn) Hornbeck.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio where the family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the time of service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
