James Edward Jirsa, 76, of Eastlake, Ohio, passed away at his home on April 3, 2025. James was born on September 24, 1948, to Albert Jirsa and Dorothy Ulatowski of Maple Heights, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Jirsa. He leaves behind his sisters Norma Read and Debbie Chessar.
He is survived by his children, Jason and Ashley Jirsa, and their mother, Lynn Cloonan, his former wife.
James was proud of his service in the 101st Airborne from 1969 to 1971. He celebrated his 21st birthday swimming off the coast of Vietnam.
Upon his return, James began a long career in the alarm industry, first at Citadel Alarm and then in his own company, JEJ Alarm. James prided himself on doing jobs correctly and professionally.
James enjoyed boating and fishing with his family. In later years he was known as "Grumpy," though most saw through the gruff exterior. He loved baking foods from his Bohemian heritage for others, especially apple strudel and kolachkes.
He particularly enjoyed visits from his niece, Lindsey Ross, and her children Zayden, Addyson, Coltyn, Braylee and Ryckee.
A private service will be held. James will be laid to rest next to his parents and grandparents at Whitehaven Memorial Park in Mayfield. He will be deeply missed.
