James Ross Hayes, age 65, of Austinburg, passed away from an unexpected heart attack on Monday, June 26, 2023. He was born on October 12, 1957, in Geneva, Ohio, to the late Robert and Mary Hayes. He married the love of his life, Vickie Allshouse, on October 6, 1984, in Geneva. Jim was an amazing person with all the traits you could ever ask for in a best friend. He was unselfish and giving in so many ways but never was interested in receiving gifts or being the center of attention. He believed in a strong work ethic and showed his love in his daily actions and commitments. He loved all animals especially his Brussels Griffon dogs that he insisted on naming Brussels and Griffon and they loved him just as much (he gave them lots of treats)! Jim often said how lucky he was to grow up when he did, spending much of his youth at Geneva-on-the-Lake and enjoying the best music of the 60s and 70s, referring to it as "the best childhood." Nothing was better than Jim's sense of humor and laugh and he had numerous favorite movie quotes that he would often share. He was a wonderful husband and father. Jim believed strongly in 'Happy wife Happy life' and he shared the happiest 40 years with Vickie. He took pride in raising good kids and enjoyed being a coach for them in sports which made the experiences that much more special. He was always there, always reliable and was a rock that stuck to his convictions. Jim loved being home more than anything and truly loved his life and all the people in it. His loving soul will carry on and our memories will be cherished forever! Surviving Jim is his loving wife, Vickie (Allshouse) Hayes; children, Benjamen (Kelly) Hayes and Brady Hayes; siblings, Carol (Pete) Jones and Jan Bartko; sister-in-laws, Pam McNicol and Nancy (Dale) Coberly; many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Hayes; in-laws, Mary and Marvin Courtright; Aunt, Carrie Metzger and brother-in-law, Bill Bartko. At this time, no services will be held.
