Obituary

James Walter Snyder, 82, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026. He was born on February 14, 1944, in Cleveland, OH, to Orville Snyder and Virginia Snyder-Szymanski.

James was a skilled tool and die maker who was widely known for his precision work and dedication to his craft. Over the years, he earned the respect of colleagues and peers alike for his strong work ethic and attention to detail. In addition to his career, he served as president of the Madison Small Games Association and was also a licensed pilot, reflecting both his leadership and adventurous spirit.

A man of many interests, James loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing or hunting. He had a passion for motorcycles, boating, and flying airplanes, and he especially enjoyed traveling, most notably to Marathon Keys. He was also a member of the Pete Waymans Pepper Club, where he shared camaraderie and good times with friends.

He is survived by his children: Craig Snyder (Michelle), Brian Snyder (Julie), Jamie Snyder (Patti), and Karyn Adkins (Steven). He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Snyder and Virginia Snyder-Szymanski.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

James will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of adventure, and the lasting impact he made on his family and friends.
