James Gordon Speer Sr. (Jim), 83, of Pierpont, Ohio died on Saturday June 19, 2021, surrounded by his family at home. Visitation will be Saturday June 26, 9am to 12:00pm at the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, 71 Ohio Route 7, Pierpont, OH 44082. Service will be Saturday June 26, 12:00pm at the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, 71 Ohio Route 7, Pierpont, OH 44082. A Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow the Service, at Evergreen Cemetery in Pierpont. He was born to parents Cleo and Flora Speer, on November 26, 1937 at his family home in Monroe, Ohio. He married Rachel Ring, the love of his life of 59 years, who survives him. Jim is also survived by his sister Carol Fuller and her husband Dave, sister Judy Housel and her late husband Pete. Daughter Margie Brewster and her husband Mark Sr, grandson Mark Brewster Jr, his wife Allison, great granddaughter Taylor, great grandson Mark III, granddaughter Michelle Barrett and her husband Michael. Daughter Bonnie Benson and her husband Brad, granddaughter Amber Roane and husband Alan, granddaughter Ashley Stoneman. Son Jim Speer Jr and his wife Rhona and his stepsons, Andrew, Stephen, and David Clifton. Along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Predeceased by parents Cleo and Flora Speer. Sister Rogene Swift and her husband David. Brother-in-law Pete Housel. Jim joined the Army Reserves in 1956. Jim retired as a Foreman from RMI Metals in Ashtabula, Ohio. His passion was farming all his working years. Jim loved taking his family camping and also riding the white water rafting at Ohiopyle. Jim had a very loving and giving spirit. He always loved Jesus and wants us to love and to forgive others as Jesus wants us to. He had a heart for missions and told us how much his six mission trips to the Dominican Republic were his greatest trips. Jim and Rachel loved to travel, some of their travels include going to Hawaii two times, to England, and then the trip to Israel where Jim felt the strong presence of God.
