James William Witt Sr. 82, of Jefferson, Ohio, formerly of Ocoonita, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
Ohio was his residence, but Virginia was always his Home. He was a self-employed painter for over 40 years. James enjoyed gardening, watching westerns, country music, sitting in his garage just watching the traffic go by and his many trips down home.
The Love he had for his family will never be forgotten; he was a loving husband, an amazing Dad, an awesome Papaw and the best great-Papaw. James will truly be missed by ALL that loved him.
Preceeding him in death were his parents, Flemon and Georgia (McClancy) Witt; brothers, Bill, Leroy, Joe, Jack and John; and a sister, Charles Anna.
To carry on his story are his wife, Judy (Ross), they were together for almost 60 years; daughters, Jodi (Al) Tuttle and Joanna (Jim) Hawk; son, Jay (Linda) Witt; Papaw to, Brandon (George) Tuttle, Derrick (Loren) Tuttle, Chad Tuttle, JD Tuttle, Tabitha Tuttle, JJ (Kaylee) Hawk, Kyle (Morgan) Hawk, Joshua (Laurie) Schlaich, Allison (Lance) Butler, Jordan Fertig, and Meghan (Nate) Goda; Great-Papaw to, Ellie and Addie Tuttle, Kasey Hawk, Samantha, Kennedi, Alexis, Riley, Sophia, Eliana, Cohen, and Brooklyn; and a sister, Linda Witt.
Per his wishes, his ashes will be returned to Virginia, a place with so many wonderful memories, his home
