Jerry H. Cheney, age 80, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, at his home surrounded by loving family. He was born on October 4, 1943, in Geneva, OH., to parents Captain Emerson and Betty Cheney. Jerry attended Geneva Area Schools and married the love of his life on September 14, 1968, at Geneva Assumption Catholic Church. Jerry enjoyed being a member of the Grand River Snowmobile Club, was a friend of Harpersfield Park where he volunteered many hours cleaning and building picnic tables and especially decorating for Covered Bridge Christmas in the park. He is survived by his wife, Sue Cheney; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou C. Cheney, Mary Lou P. Cheney; brothers-in-law, Ron (Susan) Valitsky, David (Jane) Valitsky; and many nieces, nephews, great, and great great; especially Jaxen and Zoey. Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings, Dick Cheney, Betty Ann Boyd, and Douglas Cheney. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 2 to 4 pm with a service directly following. He will be buried at a later date at Mount Pleasant in Geneva, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
