Joan F. (Volanski, Moisio) Colling, 66, of Denmark Township, passed away on the afternoon of Nov. 24t, 2021, at Ashtabula County Medical Center, due to complications from a combination of pneumonia and an extreme case of Covid.
Born in Painesville, Joan was raised and spent most of her life in Ashtabula County. She graduated from Jefferson High School and then led a local 4-H group into her early 30's. In more recent years she enjoyed her membership in the Andover Garden Club. Joan has won many ribbons, prizes, and accolades for her amazing abilities in growing gorgeous flowers and tasty fruits and vegetables. Equal to her love of horticulture, Joan was a talented, award-winning painter. Joan's love of horses was a deep passion that blossomed in her early childhood years. And that developed into a multi-faceted interest into all animals; she even owned a pet store! Joan was a true artist and a lover of critters. May it be drawing, painting, growing, or sewing; Chihuahuas and Danes, bird raising and horse showing, Joan enjoyed it all.
Joan's highest and most important passion was family and friends. She was a wonderful loving mother always ready to help her children whenever they needed her. She was an extremely kind spirit full of warmth and affection for each and every person she cared about. She was an emotional warrior always ready to lend a helping hand to her cherished dear ones: far and wide.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Laura Volanski, sister: Ruth Volanski, brother: Bill Volanski, and sister-in-law: Amy (Toukonen) Volanski. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years: Aaron Colling; her sons: Aaron (Patricia) Moisio and Austin Colling; her grandchildren: James (Lucy) Mattingly, Emily Moisio, and Timothy Moisio, and her great grandchildren: Cassidy, Bennet, Brinley, and Lucas. All from the Jefferson/Denmark Area. Other surviving family members include brothers: Richard (DE Amy) Volanski and Tim (Karen) Volanski, both from Jefferson; sister: Mary (Volanski) Holdren from the Mogadore area. Joan will also be remembered fondly by her many nieces and nephews and an ever-growing number of great nieces and nephews. All of whom have spent time on "Aunt Joan's farm" helping her with or playing in her many gardens.
Sitting in groups on the porch, at the picnic tables, around the bonfires, or playing in the Christmas snow will have made many beautiful memories for all her loved ones to hold onto and in turn share those stories with future generations.
Joan always strove to help us understand just how very much she truly loved each and every one of us. Know, without a doubt, beautiful lady, we felt it, we understood it, and we will treasure it always and forever.
A celebration of Joan's life will be held and the Colling residence in Denmark Township on a date to be determined for some time around Memorial Day of 2022. For those wishing to attend please feel free to contact Aaron Colling or a surviving member of the family.
