On Monday, February 26, 2024, Joan Czuchra, 81, of Middlefield Ohio, lost her four-year battle with metastatic breast cancer and passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Joan was born on July 25, 1942, the second of five children born to Alexander and Stella Dziewicki of Highland Heights, Ohio. Growing up, Joan was a gifted clarinet player and sat first chair grades 7-12.

After graduating from Mayfield High School in 1960, Joan attended Kent State University where she majored in education, played in the marching band and met her future husband (Carl Czuchra) whom she married in 1962. Joan and Carl were married for 47 years and raised three children, Michelle, Michael and Brian in New Lyme, Ohio.

Joan loved teaching and was passionate about helping others learn during her 38-year career most of which was spent at Pymatuning Valley. She received the Golden Apple Award for excellence and leadership in teaching. Joan was a lifelong learner and enjoyed reading.

Joan was also a golf fanatic and was a member at Hickory Grove Golf course in Jefferson, OH for many years. Joan's favorite courses in the area included Rolling Green, Hemlock Springs and Sugarbush. Through golf Joan met Jim Buehler, her loving partner since 2013.

Joan was preceded in death by her father (Alexander), mother (Stella), brother (Donald) and husband (Carl). She is survived by her sisters Mary, Connie and Ann as well as her partner, three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Joan's wishes, a funeral service will not be held.
