Obituary

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Joan Mullen passed away at age 88 at Saybrook Landing Nursing Home in Ashtabula, Ohio.

She was born on March 31, 1936, in WV, but resided in Warren and Ashtabula Ohio the majority of her life.

Joan's career included working in Convenient Stores in a managerial position for decades. She retired early to take care of her Mother Madeline Johnson at her home in Ashtabula, Ohio. After Madeline's passing in 2003, Joan started a new adventure in her life. She joined the Geneva Senior Center as an event coordinator and this is where she thrived. She loved organizing events, entertaining the seniors and bringing the community together.

Joan loved life. She had an infectious smile that made everyone feel like they were special. Joan never met a stranger and gave the best long-lasting hugs.

Joan was very generous with her time and helped family and friends in any way she could.

Joan had many interests. She loved cooking and baking, always trying recipes. She loved country music, reading and hosting and decorating for the holidays, where family and friends alike were treated like royalty. She enjoyed traveling and got the most excited over the little things in life, such as spontaneous visits from family and friends to early spring flowers.

Joan loved with all her heart and one was very fortunate to have known her.
Joan's smile was infectious and lit up a room and she always made everyone comfortable. You knew you were loved when you were in her presence.

Joan is preceded in death by her Mother Madeline Johnson, Sister Shirley Ball, Daughters Doris Mullen-Homa and Vickie Plyler., Brothers Larry and Lyle Johnson.

She is survived by her Sons Thomas Mullen (Ashtabula OH) Douglas Mullen (Niles Ohio) Daughter Linda (Jim) Wagner (St Paul, MN) Granddaughters Natalie Wilson (NC), Kelly Lecker (NC) Trisha Mullen (Warren, OH) Nieces Diane and Debbie Roe (TX) and Luanne Dunkley (IND).

Family and friends may pay tribute to Joan at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 6, 2024, in the mausoleum chapel at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 3140 E Center Street, North Kingsville, Ohio 44030.
