Joann Douglas-Chapman, 77, of Cleveland, Ohio passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2024, at the the beautiful lakeside complex of the David Simpson Hospice House from kidney and heart failure.
She was born June 26, 1946, in Cleveland to the late Aidah and Waliyudin Diaab and graduated from Glenville High School. On May 11, 1970 in Cleveland, she married David Lee Chapman, a veteran of the U.S. armed forces, who preceded her in death on February 5, 1993.
Joann was a very, spiritual, dedicated, and loving mother, wife, and worker. In her spare time, she loved driving, bowling, and playing pool.
She is survived by her daughters, Constance Uqdah (Bill) of Cleveland, and Khadijah X. Chapman (Phillip Cook), and Yahne Chapman; grandchildren, Cedrian Ahkumaaru, Daletia Chapman, and Michael Monroe.
Joann was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Chapman and brother, Clyde Douglas.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Frecks Lounge, 11143 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44110. Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
