Joe Dale Simmons

Joe Dale Simmons, 78, of Broadview Heights, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2026, at 4:45 a.m. at Parma Hospital.

Joe was born in Paris, Tennessee, on December 27, 1947, to Ernest and Lou Simmons. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era from 1967 to 1973.

Joe was known for his hardworking nature and his love of working on cars. He was a talented welder who took pride in his craft. In his free time, he especially enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and spending time with those he cared about.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest P. Simmons; his mother, Sarah Fitzpatrick; his stepfather, Paul Fitzpatrick; sister, Sue Schroeder; and brother, Edward Simmons.

Joe is survived by his sisters, Brenda E. Leyba of Jefferson, Ohio; Terry A. (Robert) Funtash of Rome; Sally Burnett; and Paula R. (Clifford E.) Walker. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews who will cherish his memory.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Right at Home and to his caregiver and friend, Lamont, for their care, compassion, and support.

Burial will take place at Rome Center Cemetery in Rome, Ohio.

Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Rd, Geneva, OH 44041, assisted the family with arrangements.
